This is determined by the enrichment of the ⁶⁸Zn target material and the proton energy on target. For long shelf life minimum 99% purity ⁶⁸Zn should be bombarded with maximum 12 MeV protons.

The number of patients depends on the scan time and the injected dose per patient.
