Overview
The increasing demand for 64Sc motivated the development of cyclotron production methods. Liquid targets offer simple installation and lower investment. The workflow is similar to the fluorine production, but yields are low. Solid target systems are capable of producing much higher activity but are more complicated to install and to operate.
SynIQ has developed the d.o.t.s. target to combine the benefits of solid- and liquid targets. The d.o.t.s. target operates with disposable preloaded solid target holders, tested up to 70 microampere beam current. After irradiation, the target material is automatically dissolved in the target system and transferred to a hotcell via PEEK capillary. Installation is simple, operation is controlled by a PLC.
